The Art of Ecommerce

Online artists gallery calls in the Fat Heads.

Fat Heads have got every single episode of 'Art Attack' on DVD so we know a thing or two about what makes great art. It's no suprise then that a new artist co-operative, going by the name of Bogwapit, approached us to help them start trading on the web.

Karen Belfield, owner of Bogwapit, wants an ecommerce site to match her company's strapline, "Funky & Unique". The site will sell artwork, prints, clothing, jewellery and accessories many of which are custom made items.

As well offering the customer the chance to buy these great gifts the site will also feature profiles on the up-and-coming artists showcased on the site as well as news and information about the latest workshops Bogwapit is running in your area. You'll be the next Neil Buchanan in no time. Lucky you!

Fat Heads get hungry for print design

Growing UK Resturant Guide gets a new look.

If there was one bad thing about producing the latest UK restaurant guide for the highly successful business, The Gourmet Society, it would be that looking at food on your monitor all day leaves you drooling into the keyboard.

The Gourmet Society are a raidly expanding restaurant membership of 25,000. Having promised their readership a snazzy 300-page guide Fat Heads were quickly snapped up to design and produce it in record time.

Fat Heads had a few XML tricks up their sleeves though and were able to get all 1,000 restaurants off the website and into the guide saving the client a lot of manual inputting. The guide, which was also print managed by Fat Heads, has now been circulated to over 30,000 members and restaurants. So far, just like the food advertised within, it has gone down very well indeed.

Banging The Animation Drum

Fat Heads given the chance to showcase impressive animation studio.

Back in our younger days us Fat Heads (or the Little Chubby Heads as we were then known) would perch in front of the TV and happily watch Scooby and Shaggy run past the same water cooler 17 times. These days when kids aren't 'binging on street corners' (copyright The Daily Mail) they're watching big green ogre's, mice that can cook and Transformers. Proper 3D Transformers too, not those crappy 2D Japanese cartoon ones voiced by Orson Wells. The point is that animation has moved on...and how.

In today's a world of CGI and 3D, animation is everywhere; from film and TV to computer games and advertisements and that's why when Richard Drumm of Humdrum Animations Studio (DYSWHDT) came to us with the idea of developing his website we picked it up and ran with it...past the same water cooler 17 times.

Richard is a successful and highly skilled animator. He has worked for such high profile clients as Cosgrovehall Films, RockStar Games, Lego, EA Games, Disney, Warner Brothers interactive entertainment and Nicktoons. He has produced animation for award winning shows, games and short films.

Humdrum offers 3D animation, character animation, television idents/interstitials, motion graphics, animated commercials and videos as well as ingame and cutscene animation. Phew! Luckily for us though they aren't very good at websites.

Hartbrights Sign Up

Signage specialists are looking for a fresh new look for their website.

It wasn't hard for us to find Hartbrights' HQ when we went to visit them recently to discuss their website redesign. After all they are experts in 'signage solutions' and therefore had the biggest, baddest sign on Longley Lane, Sharston beating off stiff competition from the likes of Happy Shopper and Athlete's Foot: the discount sporting shoe store.

Hartbrights Signage Solutions are a successful signage company who provide signage for retail, leisure and most importantly, breweries. They have produced work for, amongst others, Phones 4 U, Rhode Island Coffee, The Early Learning Centre, Revolution bars and Virgin Sun. Now they want to display their impressive portfolio online and have called in the Fat Heads for some website renovation.

Hartbrights spokesperson, Josh Pickering has asked for a site to match their signage: "bold, bright and contemporary." Hartbrights have been making businesses look great, wow customers and easy to find for years. Hopefully Fat Heads can do the same for them.

Rolling Hills

Normhurst agree to extend marketing contract with Fat Heads.

After a brief trip over the Pennines in the Fathead-mobile and a meeting with the managing director, the Fat Heads came back happy in the knowledge that the recent work they had produced for Normhurst Ltd had gone down a treat.

The parent company of Hills Office Furniture, Hills Corporate Interiors, City Desk Manufacturing and Wakefield Office Supplies, have expressed their desire to work with Fat Heads by extending the marketing contract currently in place.

Managing director, Paul Simpson was particularly impressed with the latest Hills Office Furniture brochure and a successful emarketing campaign for Hills Corporate Interiors. He outlined his plans for the near-future including a complete revamp of the Hills Office Furniture website, a drive towards ecommerce and a greater awareness of City Desk's environmental products. All of which will be the responsibility of Fat Heads to oversee from design through development to completion (with a 45 minute lunch break).

The furniture company was even kind enough to chuck in a couple of quality office chairs at discount prices to replace the seating previously residing at Fat Heads HQ. Anyone looking to purchase a wonky deckchair and an old milk crate please call 07901 758 190, or email us using the feedback form.

Fat Heads are a breath of fresh air

GDI Air Solutions have hired Fat Heads Creative Studio to develop their ecommerce.

Stay cool, breaking the ice, FREEZE, chill out, ice to see you, it's snow joke. Let's get all the crappy "cold-related" puns out of the way first. Why? Because Fat Heads have been asked to design and create an ecommerce site for Manchester based air conditioning specialists, GDI Air Solutions Ltd. That's why.

GDI are a well-established business who install commercial air conditioning across the UK to such companies as Greggs and Reed Employment. They began life installing and repairing vehicle air conditioning as well as providing a whole host of general vehicle services which they continue to this day.

Now they are looking to expand their business by providing air solutions to resedential customers. Fat Heads' experience in ecommerce has been brought on board to allow GDI to sell their air conditioning units, dehumidifiers, air purifiers and horse-drawn hair dryers online.

Brand spanking new site launched - December 2007

The Fat Heads have come together to launch a new creative cooperative.

After many years toiling for the middle man Rick Baxter and Sean Turner have decided to go it alone in the big world of the Creative Business, bringing together a combined experience of 14 years in the creative industry.

Speaking on the announcement Sean said: "As a crime fighting pair of creatives we have already worked together for four years now on a vast array of projects both public and private sector based. The experience that we have gained to date has been valuable and great for us to launch into our own venture at this point in time. The future is bright as a Fat Head too, with a number of additions already added to the team, which means that creatively we can cover all manner of jobs for new and emerging companies as well as those companies that are well established."

Rick added, "The Fat Heads are already fully booked until the new year for jobs but are looking for new jobs all of the time, the fact that we have interconnected networks with other like minded operatives means that we can get a great level of expertise at the drop of a hat. All designers are put through a rigorous training regime before they are presented with their Fat Head badge!"

To see if the Fat Heads can help you, please call 07901 758 190, email using the feedback form, or have a look at our portfolio to see the level of service that we have already delivered on jobs.

World class animator joins Fat Heads

Adding to the bearded population of the Fat Heads, we welcome John Hedley to the team.

The Fat Heads today welcome John Hedley to the ranks. John is a digital artist specialising in animation, with over 15 awards and screenings at international film festivals.

With eight years of animation experience, both in house and freelance, John has worked for a number of different clients and been involved in a wide range of projects.

This is what just a few of John's previous employers have said about him:

"John quickly became an integral member of our production team. He was brought in as an animator, but proved himself equally skilled as a compositor, special effects artist and director. He is my first port of call if I want something doing on time and well." (Jon Turner, Kilogramme Ltd)

"John did exceptional work on 'Dr Who: Infinite Quest', as animator, sfx artist and compositor, a gifted and focused addition to any creative team . He will however, if not kept in check, walk around the studio barefoot, steal punch lines and demand girl's tea. Could also do with a bit of a trim." (Steve Maher, Firestep)

Over the coming weeks we will be populating the portfolio pages with some of the work that John has undertaken. Stay tooned!

Normhurst "love" Fat Heads

Office furniture goes online

Take a chair...or bookcase...or a bow fronted radial executive desk.

Fat Heads have been commissioned to produce an e-commerce website for new online business The Office People. The site, due to be launched early 2008, offers quality office furniture at affordably low prices (we get two quid every time we mention that!)

The Office People, whose main priority is to provide excellent customer service, chose Fat Heads to design, create and maintain the online shopping site based on their ability to produce accessible and user-friendly web sites allowing customers to pleasantly peruse and purchase.

The Office People are keen to work on a long-term basis with Fat Heads in order to constantly improve and develop the site's Search Engine Optimisation. They also offer quality office furniture at affordably low prices, ahem.

Fat Heads break out into Interior Design

Chris Dixon adds an extra dimension - quite literally.

CAD visualist and interior designer Chris Dixon has fattened his head and joined the team as Fat Heads new 3D Interior Design specialist. Chris is a graduate in Interior Architecture at the former Jacob Kramer College in Leeds and has over 10 years experience in interior and office design.

Chris can read 2D floor plans and turn them into 3D environments with flair. He has brought many stylish designs to life for businesses, hotels, restaurants and champagne bars. He has also worked in both Spain and Cyprus producing designs for commercial and residential apartments and villas which accounts for his perma-tan.

Chris said, "The regular designers and architects that I work with can trust me with minimal amounts of information and be happy in the knowledge that their design will come out looking better than they might have imagined themselves!"

Show off.
