Sean Turner, Digital Director

About Sean...

After a dalliance with photography in his late teens, Sean decided that the world of design was for him and undertook a course in New Media Technology and Production at Teesside University. Having originally wanting to be a graphic designer, early years at University soon convinced him that web design was the way forward for him. Wanting a piece of the action, he decided to specialise in his final year of University in emerging web technologies, making a website totally gratis for a local recording company.

After leaving University Sean clung onto the student dream, making a living from freelance jobs whilst still emerged in the student bubble that is Teesside. Working on a number of jobs in various media during this period gave him the opportunity to work with high profile clients such as Shed 7, NTL, and the University of Teesside themselves, the majority of such work was in video editing/production for TV and DVD productions.

Sean eventually left Teesside in 2001 to persue a career in East Anglia working for Cambridgeshire Constabulary as a web assistant. After a year he slipped back up north settling in Manchester, again working for the (Greater Manchester) Police as a Web Officer.

Responsible for the Internet and Intranet sites whilst at Greater Manchester, Sean had the opportunity to get a full grasp of what it was like to develop content driven sites for a worldwide audience. Whilst undertaking this role he also realised the benefit of getting rid of table based sites and recoding into HTML/CSS sites for accessibility and the upcoming DDA legislation.

During his time at GMP Sean undertook various projects that would better his grasp of web technologies for a cross platfom world. Learning Adobe Illustrator, Quark Express, Adobe InDesign, Flash MX, Lotus Domino Designer and various web coding languages, including creation of mobile websites during his time at GMP.

Testimonials

  • Pete Fitzpatrick, PR Manager, Treasure Island "The team at Treasure Island Soft Play Ltd are delighted with Fat Heads contribution to Treasure Island's corporate identity in print and online. They have taken our brief & developed some great characters that fit perfectly into to our strategy. We have had some great feedback already from our Facebook friends – we can’t wait to see the finished website. A big Thank You to Rick & Sean."
  • Terri Holt, Office Manager, Six Recruitment "Having had difficulties with a previous web design company, Fat Heads stepped into the breach and made it all happen. We are very pleased with the web site and have had a number of extremely complementary calls from clients and candidates. On a personal note, I would like to thank the team for their patience when dealing with someone who is not really the best person to manage a site. Through a period of specialist training which involved knowledge sharing and patience I have learned a lot."
