iPhone 4 Home Screen

If you're like me then you may enjoy having a ridiculous amount of applications on your home screen particularly as Apple have now added the functionality to group apps into folders in the recent version 4.0 software. As a result you may also like to save links to your favourite websites as Home Screen icons rather than as Bookmarks.

However I find it increasingly frustrating that many websites haven't catered for this, albiet luxury, feature by not including a nice iPhone-friendly graphic to display. iPhone will still allow you to save the link without an icon but use a rather ugly screenshot of the page as the icon. The crazy thing is that it's so simple to do and best of all requires absolutely no coding whatsover. Here's how it's done:

Treasure Island Soft Play characters

Last month we designed and produced the fun new branding for Treasure Island Soft Play, a children's activity centre in St Helens. With a website also ready to launch in the next few weeks the Fat Heads were lucky enough to be invited to the grand opening of the centre on Saturday 5th June 2010.

The team at Treasure Island Soft Play had worked really hard to pull everything together for the big day and it really shows. There's tons of fun things for the kids to do: a huge 'pirate ship' jungle gym; play pit for toddlers; dance studio; and photographic studio. Not to mention lots of comfortable seating and refreshments available for parents.

We attended the much hyped relaunch of the Manchester based creativetimes.co.uk on 27th May 2010 and must admit we were not dissapointed with the evenings events.

I am Kloot play at the Creative Times launch

Creative Times was originally launched in 2008 by the now defunkt Creative Industries Development Sevices (CIDS) and has been resurrected by Fudge, The Cornerhouse, and The White Room as a portal for various creatives in the North West.  The latest developments to the site allow greater integration for social media elements whilst enabling users to publish their own news stories to feature on the homepage.

Diego Maradona

In case you've been hiding in a cave - and to be honest from what I've seen of Al Qaeda recently they seem to be fitted with the latest digital video and audio equipment these days - there's an Association Football World Cup about to kick off. So as a special commerative souvenier Fat Heads have produced a super soccer wallpaper as a tribute to the greatest professional footballer of all time, Diego Armando Maradona.

Genius or cheat? Who cares, everyone knows it's all about the entertainment. Go ask Simon Cowell.

An oldie but a goldie, we (like stephen spielberg) can't get enough of the Wilhelm scream, comedy gold!!!

Not sure what we think is better, his guitar playing or his haircut. Get your groove on to this!

I think I owe you an apology. Last month I got a bit cross at the fact that IE6 users had increased in percentage. Now, according to the browser statistics at w3schools.com, that was still the case however I have since discovered that these stats are based on visitors visiting the w3schools site only and therefore do not give an accurate portrayal of browser use across the whole internet.

The problem with the w3schools.com site is that it tends to get visited primarily by techies and nerds who wear librarian green corduroy jeans and plimsoles. What we want is a more general 'market research' type range of internet users, you know, the type that includes single mums who shop in Aldi and other terrible sweeping generalisations.

We love the work that was created for the Good Food channel, by renowned photographer Carl Warner and his creative team in creating the London skyline using little more than household fruit and veg, brilliant work from the team.

Testimonials

  • Pete Fitzpatrick, PR Manager, Treasure Island "The team at Treasure Island Soft Play Ltd are delighted with Fat Heads contribution to Treasure Island's corporate identity in print and online. They have taken our brief & developed some great characters that fit perfectly into to our strategy. We have had some great feedback already from our Facebook friends – we can’t wait to see the finished website. A big Thank You to Rick & Sean."
  • Terri Holt, Office Manager, Six Recruitment "Having had difficulties with a previous web design company, Fat Heads stepped into the breach and made it all happen. We are very pleased with the web site and have had a number of extremely complementary calls from clients and candidates. On a personal note, I would like to thank the team for their patience when dealing with someone who is not really the best person to manage a site. Through a period of specialist training which involved knowledge sharing and patience I have learned a lot."
