Humdrumm Animation Studios website

The project

HumDrumm Animation Studios, based in Manchester, needed a portfolio web site that would effectively showcase their animation work. The site had to display images and movie files as well as company information and a news section.

HumDrumm insisted that the website should have a full content management system so that administrators could easily create, edit and delete information, portfolios, news, images and movies on the site. They also requested a secure client login area for FTP file sharing.

Fat Heads set about building a bespoke HumDrumm-branded Content Management System that incorporated PHP/MySQL and Ajax technology. The CMS allowed secure admin logins and allowed users to manipulate that data that would feature on the front-end web design.

The main site's web design is clean and mono-chrome so as not to detract from the impressive portfolio of work and make full use of the screen. The Portfolio and News sections make use of a stylish page-scroll to smoothly jump from one item to another. The site mixes Flash and Javascript to display image stills and movies. Lightboxes are used to give extra emphasis to both the portfolio movieplayer and secure FTP login section.
